Kari Lake files a lawsuit in Maricopa County alleging that election laws were violated

Arizona Republican gubernatorial Candidat Kari Lake Lake filed a lawsuit against Maricopa county election officials alleging that they violated election laws. Lake claimed that 118 polling stations had a “printer/tabulation issue,” even though officials have previously stated that there were 60 centers that had printer problems that were resolved before the polls closed.

Democrat Katie Hobbs is currently Arizona secretary of state. Promised as the winner 10 days ago. Lake, a close ally to former President Donald Trump, has yet not conceded the governor’s race.

Lake announced Wednesday’s lawsuit on Steve Bannon’s podcast, “War Room”, calling the 2022 election the “most shoddy ever in history.”

Lake stated that they need more information. “We are on a timeline. A very strict timeline when it is to fighting this botched electoral process, and they are dragging their feet.”

Bill Gates, Chairman of Maricopa County Board of Supervisors stated that there were 60 polling places with printing problems on Election Day. They were fixed before the polls closed. Gates stated that the problem with the printer was technical. The ink wasn’t dark enough to make the machines readable.

Lake said in the lawsuit, however, that “because there were printer/tabulator problems the polling locations were chaotic and voters were frustrated, and they had to endure long queues.”

Lake’s lawsuit requests several public records regarding canvassing. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff is unable to access the requested records in order “to determine the full extent and impact of the problems identified”

Lake posted a video last Wednesday claiming that she had “assembled arguably the most talented legal team” and that they are looking into every possible avenue to rectify the many wrongs of the past week.

Since Election Day, Lake has been claiming problems in Maricopa County (the largest Arizona county that includes Phoenix). Fox News reported that Lake had stated on Nov. 9 that Arizona has “shoddy elections that have been run by imbeciles”. If elected, she promised to call a special session for the Arizona Legislature to address the issue.

She also claimed that elections officials were slow to count the ballots, an allegation she supports. Gates claimed that Gates’ Nov. 10 statement was “offensive.”

Gates said, “We are absolutely not slow rolling it and if they had been paying attention to before the election they would have heard us talking about this over and again, that we would never have results on election day or the next day.” It was going to take several more days. Kari Lake finds it offensive that the people behind her are slow to roll this, even though they work 14-18 hours.
